Experiences

We hold many memories of 5 years living in Africa. Besides our mission of recording the Bible in Kiswahili and other native languages, we had other experiences: We fellowship with many persons of different nationalities, we traveled and visit new places and, all in all, we learn many new things. These are videos of assorted nature that we share with you. Enjoy.

Rovuma River crossing
The southern border of Tanzania is the Rovuma River, that divides with the country of Mozambique.
There is a bridge up the river but the shortest way is to remain on the coast and take a ferry across. This ferry works only when the tide is high due to the proximity with the sea at the mouth of the river. It was a fun event and we recorded in the short clip.

Here is a short clip taken on our return from Mozambique. We went to Mozambique with the purpose of bringing Audio Bibles to some of our contacts there. We traveled many kilometers by road and on the return we passed through Mombasa directly to Nairobi.
This was August 6th 2013.

Exploratory trip to Mozambique Island. A world heritage site:

A word of appreciation from our friends in Mozambique, after receiving a shipment of Audio Bibles in their language:

Christian work in East Africa: Simple and meaningful. Water is essential for life. So is the Word of God. Pray and help to bring it to every creature in the world.

Swahili Bible narration: Joe in action. Nairobi 2012.

2015 – Mozambiqe had many storms like this one:

This is a short clip of a project we were blessed to participate in. It consists of dialogues with Biblical references and discussions in the Macua language, for broadcast in Mozambique. We were recording advisers and operators and greatly blessed to be there and share the Word:

We stopped the car at a village and we started to play around with a ball. Soon, many of the children in the village came to play too. That was easy. Well, promoting football is not hard. Just bring the ball! It dawn on me that in preaching the Gospel it is important to promote the “sport” (Christianity) and bring the “ball” (the Bible), and not necessarily the “club” (the denomination or church). If we do that the “great mission” will be raised to another level…

A visit to Nangololo, North of Mozambique, in 2012. This was once a land of war and now you feel a great peace inside and outside the Church of the old mission.

Picada, muita picada… agora a ser alargada numa estrada magnífica até Mocimboa… Parece que todas as estradas do norte de Moçambique estão em construção… é o boom do petróleo…(LNG) – (Inside our car we carry the precious audio Bibles for Mocimboa and Pemba)

Over 40 years ago, Jorge worked here as an army Engineer, buiding the road we are travelling in today. Just a few contrasting images of then and now.

This is a short clip from our visit to Orphans Home in 2012. Our team tried to make a difference in the lives of those children and it was an experience we all cherished very much.

Long trip by car from Kenya to Mozambique, in 2012. We crossed Tanzania, from North to South. Among other things we were carrying a load of audio Books to donate to some organizations and people there. A pleasant surprise at the end of this clip: The Ndanda Abbey – a Missionary strongold that includes Hospital, School and much more.
