June Update

‘Children under 16 in Portugal can no longer freely access social media platforms without verified parental consent. The Portuguese parliament passed legislation raising the independent access age to 16, requiring parents to explicitly authorize access using their Digital Mobile Key.’

Background

‘The report refers to research according to which 97% of young people go online every day and 78% of 13 to 17-year-olds check their devices at least hourly. At the same time, one in four minors display ‘problematic’ or ‘dysfunctional’ smartphone use, i.e. behavioural patterns mirroring addiction.’

‘According to the 2025 Eurobarometer, over 90% of Europeans believe action to protect children online is a matter of urgency, not least in relation to social media’s negative impact on mental health (93%), cyberbullying (92%) and the need for effective ways to restrict access to age-inappropriate content (92%).‘

‘[EU] Member states are starting to take action and responding with measures such as age limits and verification systems.‘

The above is extracted from mainstream news.

The problem is finally identified. What to make of the solution? Too little, too late? Back, ten or fifteen years ago, it was not hard for parents to detect the dangers of the internet for underage children. Many were often criticized and vilified for not allowing their children to have free access to the Internet. Today, some states are making it a law. [adults will be next?]

Notwithstanding, the internet has many benefits, allowing good information to reach people who could not accesss it before. Wordproject was founded to reach as many people as possible with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Now children in Christian and other nations, have a chance to learn about Jesus Christ and Salvation before the age of 16 – anywhere, anytime.

Let us hope that parents will take this opportunity to guide their children to absorb good positive content – including Biblical morals and principles. Hopefully they will learn the Bible and experience Christ before they experience Cyberbullying.

App comments:

Great Bible reading app. Totally free and without annoying ads to interrupt our communion with God. SR
Spoken with zeal for the Lord. No sound effects. No distractions. SM
Excellent app! I'm visually impaired and I can use it without any problems. It's easy to use and very good. I recommend it. EP
I am delighted. I encourage others to make it their own. I haven't listened to or read everything yet. I've only noticed that sometimes the word spacing is lacking. However, it's a very valuable application. For those of us with poor vision, it's a blessing not to be taken lightly. May the Almighty bless you abundantly. JM
Perfect... I've had it for over 4 years... I have others... but I like this one the most. LS
Excellent, this is what I was looking for, the WORD OF THE LIVING GOD, which fills me with life when I hear it. IFG
